Frying with cornstarch – soggy? : AskCulinary
I tried to make some crispy sesame red meat this night.
I minimize a sirloin steak into small strips, then covered in cornstarch. After a couple of mins, the cornstarch was once all soaked up. I gave it another coating after which began to fry it.
I fried it in vegetable oil – medium/prime warmth and I once I added the steak it was once scorching (so it was once sizzling sufficient)
I fried them for two-three mins on every aspect, took them out and laid them on a paper towel… checked them in a while after they usually have been soggy.
So the following batch, I did the similar factor however fried for approximately 4-6 mins on every aspect. This was once a bit of of overkill as a result of probably the most portions began to show black.
Can any one lend a hand me out on what could have long past incorrect right here? I do not wish to fry the steak to the purpose that it turns black and burnt, however I without a doubt don’t need it to be soggy!
